Praia dos Pescadores Pier

Deze pier is één van de favoriete plekjes voor vissers en duikers. Het heeft een prachtig uitzicht op het strand.

Pintor Samora Barros Kunst galerij.

Dit gebouw in Largo Eng.º duarte pacheco was vroeger een electiciteits station (1926).

Gerestaureerd en omgebouwd in een kunst galerij in 1988.Het gebouw heeft 2 verdiepingen met grote bogen, dat goed natuurlijk licht geeft. It has two floors and exterior arches, which allow the Natural illumination of all the building. De met tegels verfraaide voorgevel is gemaakt door de schilder Samora Barros, die oorpronkelijk uit Albufeira komt.

Openings tijden: dagelijks van 10.30 tot 17.00 uur.
Behalve Zondags en feestdagen.

St. Sebastião kerk and Museum van sacrale kunst
De St. Sebastião kerk ibevind zich op het Miguel Bombarda plein en gebouwd in middel 18 de Eeuw (centraal bouw, barok stijl ).Het houten altaar dateert uit de 2de helft van de 18de eeuw.




Hoofdkerk
De Nossa Senhora da Conceição kerk is in de 18de Eeuw gebouwd, en is op 15 Juli 1800 ingewijd door Francisco Gomes de Avelar, de bisschop van de Algarve.De kerk bevindt zich in de Rua da Igreja Nova De nieuwe kerk Straat ) en heeft de oude kerk vervangen die was vernield door de aardbeving in 1755. Op de gevel staat het kruis van Avis. Upon the facade is the Cross of Avis. Bij het altaar een schilderij toegescreven aan de Albufeirense schilder Samora Barros dat dient als achtergrond voor het beeld van Nossa Senhora da Conceição, beschermvrouwe van Albufeira.




Sant'Ana kerk
De Sant'Ana kerk is gebouwd in de 18de Eeuw, bevindt zich op het Jacinto d´Ayet plein. In de kapel bevindt zich een altaar stuk toegeshreven aan de meesters Francisco Xavier Guedelha en João Baptista en een altaar stuk van de Nossa Senhora das Dores en een houten beeld van de gekruisigde Christus.




St. Vicente Standbeeld

St. Vicente van Albufeira is een monument ter nagedachtenis aan de Frei Vicente van Santo António, een groot man geboren in 1590 te Albufeira. Dit standbeeld bevindt zich op het It is Jacinto d'Ayet plein.










Archeologisch Museum (oude stadhuis)
Deze bevindt zich in het oude centrum van Albufeira, dat tot de jaren 80 als gemeentehuis funcioneerde, met verschillende studie ruimtes en een bibliotheek. De uitgestalde stukken zijn van 4 verschillende periodes, namelijk, Pré-historisch, romeins, Islamitisch en moderne tijd.




Conservatorium (Oude ziekenhuis) en Archeologisch centum
Het conservatorium is opgericht in 1996, en heeft al verschillende concerten gerealiseerd in Portugal en buitenland. Naast het conservatorium bevindt zich een archeologisch centrum waar u opgravingen kunt waarnemen.





Santa Casa da Misericórdia
Volgens mondelinge traditie dateert de stichting uit 1499. Het wordt beschouwd als een broederschap opgelegd door Koningin D. Leonor, door het feit dat Albufeira de enige gemeente van de Algarve is die tot de order van Aviz behoort. De Santa Casa da Misericordia van Albufeira is een belangrijke stichting die de benadeelden helpt. Het beschikt over bejaarden tehuizen, dagopvang, zorg voor gehandicapten, etc.





Algarve Shopping
Kom en ontdek het winkelcentrum van Guia, waar u de beste produkten vindt, bekende merken kleren en alle andere attracties dat alleen een winkel centrum kan aanbieden.





Adega do Cantor

Dichtbij Algarve Shopping gelegen, Deze "adega" is gebouwd om de Vida Nova en Onda Nova wijn te produceren, afkomstig van 3 dichtbij gelegen boerderijen: Quinta do Moinho, Quinta do Miradouro and en Quinta Vale do Sobreiro. Met het doel om de beste wijn van deze streek te leveren, gebruik makend van de traditionele en moderne technieken.

Sir Cliff Richard, werd zo'n 40 jaar geleden verliefd opde Algarve.Zijn droom was een wijngaard te planten op zijn boerderij Quinta do Moinho. Hij was de inspiratie voor de Vida Nova wijn en is bij de produktie betrokken. Wanneer hij naar Portugal komt is het gewoon om hem met vieze handen in de wijngaard te zien.

Putten
In alle regio's van de Algarve kan men oude putten vinden, waar de populatie vroeger het water haalden. Op onze kaart geven we verschillende locaties van putten aan, sommige funcioneren nog steeds.





Begraaf plaatsen

Op de begraaf plaatsen van deze regio kan men de huidige cultuur van de Algarve waarnemen, die voornamelijk Christelijk is.

Albufeira Haven
Deze wordt beschouwd als de meest veilige en beschutte haven van portugal. Omgeven door toeristisch complex van goede qualiteit, met veel groenvoorzieningen. Maar 29% van dit gebied is bestemt voor constructie. Het totale project omvat Hotels, restaurants, bars, winkels, zwembaden, apartementen, speeltuin etc.
De haven van Albufeira is arquitectonisch verschillend dan voorgaande projecten..
De haven heeft een toegangs kanaal van 25 meters breed, een gebied van 1,6 hectare voor hogere schepen, en een gebied van 5 hectare voor medium schepen.
De haven heeft een blauwe vlag, symbool van qualiteit en respect voor ambient, en voldoet aan alle educatieve, informatieve en milieu voorschriften, veiligheid, diensten en qualiteit van het water.


Vis Haven

Vroeger lag deze haven bij het Pescadores strand, nu ligt het dichtbij de Albufeira haven, om de werkomstandigheden van de vissers te verbeteren.

Birdwatching
De zone van Salgados is een geweldige plek voor birdwatching, met vele exotische soorten. In deze zone bevinden zich verscheidene observatie posten.








Nossa Senhora da Guia Kapel
De kapel in Barok stijl, met binnen een verguld altaar stuk. De Kapel van Nossa Senhora da Guia is de beste getuige van barok vertegenwoordigd in de Algarve en één van de belangrijkste monumenten van Albufeira met artistieke waarden.






Hoofd kerk van Guia

Deze kerk in Guia is gebouwd in de 17de Eeuw.
Het beeld van St. António en de gekruizigde Christus komen uit de 17de Eeuw, de beelden van Nossa Senhora do Rosário, Nossa Senhora das Dores en Nossa Senhora da Visitação uit 18de Eeuw.





St. Sebastião Kapel

Waarschijnlijk gebouwd in begin 17de Eeuw. De kapel was verwoest door de aardbeving van 1755, en was geheel verbouwd na 3 jaar.

De kapel is toegewijd aan, volgens de legende, een determinante Heilige om de "zwarte dood" te verdrijven.




Guia
Dit dorp ligt dichtbij Albufeira en heeft verscheidene attracties zoals Algarve Shopping, Zoomarine en de kerk. Guia is ook bekend door de gastronomie, namelijk de kip van Guia, die elk jaar duizenden gasten brengt.





Zoomarine
Een oceanograpfisch park met een educatieve inslag. Dit park is op 03 augustus 1991 geopened en heeft een filosofie gebaseerd op conservatie en milieu educatie.In verschillende shows zien we vele dieren, zoals dolfijnen, zeehonden, haaien, schildpadden, exotische vogels etc. Het heeft een aquarium en een revalidatie centrum voor zee dieren, restaurants en winkels.

Radical Park- Skate and BMX
The Albufeira Radical Park is considered the biggest skating park of the country. This equipment, inserted in Parque da Alfarrobeira (north of the Municipal Stadium) was designed and pojected with the main goal of creating the adequate infra-structures to the practice with Skate, BMX Freestyle and Inline Skating, in the strands that are most practiced in Portugal, such as, Street and Ramp, and with different dificulty degrees. It will also have a initiation area, with quarter pipes, flat banks and a learning zone.

Municipal Theatre

In the Municipal Theatre of Faro, near the Forum Algarve, you can find several shows in diferent areas, such as Theatre, Dance, Music, Cinema and New Circus.











Ria Formosa

The Ria Formosa is a protected area designated as Natural Park, and covers the municipalities of Loulé, Faro, Olhão, Tavira and Vila Real de Santo António, covering an area of about 18,400 acres along 60 miles from the river Ancão to the beach of Manta Rota. Here you can find a huge quantity of wildlife and allows you to be in direct contact with Nature.




St. Luís Chapel

St Luís Chapel is a "remarkable" building of Faro.

Small temple located in St. Luís Square, in front of the soccer stadium with the same name, it was built in the seventeenth century as the seat of a small rural coterie (though today the city has already integrated it in the local urban fabric).




Shopping Street

The Shopping Street is located in Faro downtown, near the marina, and here you can find good restaurants, snack bars and several stores with several shops with several items.

Vila Arch

One of the ex-libris of Faro, was ordered to build by the bishop Dom Francisco Gomes de Avelar, in the place where once was a medieval gate, and was constructed by the italian architect Francisco Xavier Fabri.
The arch marks the entrance of the Vila Adentro, the historic centre of the city, and in it you can see a niche with the image of St. Tomás de Aquino.

Has curiosity, notice the top of the edification, where the storks like to do their nestings.

St. Pedro Church

The primitive Chapel, ordered to build by the Mariners, was totally rebuilt in the middle of the XVI century. Affected by the earthquacke of 1755, was proceded to it's reconstruction. On the façade, the porch is framed by two pairs of Ionic columns that support the cornice topped with a niche with a statue of St. Pedro. Inside, has three naves and head composed of the chancel and two side chapels.

Sé Cathedral of Faro

The Sé Cathedral of Faro, also known as Sé Church or Santa Maria Church, is a "remarkable" building of Faro located in Sé Square.

It was built after the Christian reconquest in 1251 by the Archbishop of Braga D. Joao Viegas. It was later handed over to the Order of St. James.

In 1577 became headquarters of the of the episcopal seat of the Diocese of the Algarve, and a few years later (1596) was been looted and burned by the British troops of the Earl of Essex.

Rebuilt after these events, the earthquakes of 1722 and 1755 motivated other works. The unfinished bell signals the busy life of the building).

In the interior, stands the organ and the carving, while in the exterior should be noted the excellent view, over the city and the estuary, that is possible to have from the top of the bell tower.

D. Afonso III Statue and Municipal Museum

This was the first museum created in the Algarve. In 1894, in the 5th centenary of the birth of Infant D. henrique, the City Hall of Faro inaugurated the Archaeological Museum and Lapidated the Statue of this infant.

In 1914, the estate was transferred to the church of the former Convent of Santo António dos Capuchos and remained there until 1969. The archaeological remains are the most significant, with pieces of prehistory and the Roman and medieval times.Other collection of high quality are the paintings from the XVI to XIX centuries. It is composed mainly of religious specimens that formerly belonged to religious temples in the Algarve.
In November 2005, the Municipal Museum of Faro received the Award for Best Portuguese Museum during the three years 2003-05, awarded by the Portuguese Association of Museology.


Castle

What is left of the Castle, is part of a defensive structure of the city, that has roman origin and was posteriorly reinforced by the arabs.
The castle seems to have been rebuilt, after the cristian reconquest of the Peninsula, over the Alcazaba that has muslim origin.

In 1596, Faro suffers an attack of the british forces, and is sacked and burned, having to be the target of reconstruction work over several years and in the seventeenth century, more works are done to adapt the castle and city walls for the use of artillery.
In the eighteenth century, the castle was headquarters of the Artillery Regiment of the Kingdom of the Algarve and in the late nineteenth century, was leased to a company that turned it into a alcohol factory.

The changes made to function as a factory, much misrepresented the castle, which was also a victim of the opening of a street through the walls, the current Castle Street.

Carmo Church

The Nossa Senhora do Carmo Church or Carmo Church is a "remarkable" building of Faro, located in Carmo Square.
It was founded in 1713 by Bishop D.António Pereira da Silva, but the responsible for the initial project was the priest Frei Manuel da Conceição, of Lisbon. the middle of the century the building underwent major renovation and additions, having been destroyed the original facade.The new layout was designed by master mason Diogo Gonçalves, in 1747. The works extended until 1878 (namely with the construction of the facade towers).

In the Interior you can see the sacristy decoration, the "acervo de imaginária da Procissão do Triunfo" and a Bones Chapel.

Arch Gallery

Open since 1990/1991 along with the Trem Municipal Gallery, hosts temporary exibitions of national contemporary artists.
